The Overall Winning Artists Category consists of the 5 Best Entries received from the 3 media categories of the Painting & Other Category, Photography & Digital Category and the 3 Dimensional Art categories. 

The winning artists will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website from July 5th through September 5th and thereafter, the artworks and links to the artist’s websites will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives.

The overall winning artists’ category of the 3rd Annual "555 Special" Art Exhibition will receive extensive worldwide publicity and promotion.  In addition, the overall winning artists will also receive extensive worldwide publicity in the form of email marketing, 550+ press release announcements, event announcement posts and social media marketing. 

Winning artists will also have their art exhibition results posted and promoted on ArtJobs/ArtWeek. Artweek/Artjobs produces 800,000 page impressions per month, 280,000 website visitors per month and has 30,000 newsletter subscribers.

1st Place – Overall - Jon Bøe Paulsen - "Dead Ringer”

Jon Bøe Paulsen’s (1958) paintings are hauntingly realistic. His impeccable skills give filmic qualities to his works. The artist studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston (US) and graduated from the Norwegian State Art Academy in 1984.

His portraits tell many stories in one single image, and his dynamic between light and dark add a “carravaggistic” feel. Jon’s success as an artist was translated into various commissions, awards, and publications, including a documentary film on his life.

The artist’s work has been featured in exhibitions in Norway, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom.

2nd Place – Overall - Wayne Claypatch – “New Friend with Cockney Accents”

Looking at Wayne Claypatch’s work one is transported to another time and place. His figurative drawings and paintings often are a clashing of worlds, in which iconic characters of the past exist in unparalleled situations. His unique style of painting features colorful swirls of oil paint. The work itself is eccentric and nostalgic, reimagining images and characters from Claypatch’s childhood.

So often, we forget to nurture the child that is inside all of us. Claypatch’s work speaks directly to that sense of untouched wonder and creativity. The “rules” of art ask us, as viewers, to categorize what we see, in order to better understand it. To categorize Claypatch’s work would be to take away the thing that makes his work notable; it does not fit constraints or conforms, it exists as an extension of the artist’s imagination.

3rd Place – Overall - Gareth Jones – “Under the Bridge the Waves Crashed”

Photography is Gareth’s artistic release and brings his imagination, vision and inquisitive mind to visual life following a career as a forensic scientist. Gareth’s art explores bold abstracts or unique perspectives created from his original photographs or digital art. Gareth presents moments of beauty, quiet joy or intrigue in balance with the need to draw attention to important issues.

Everyone needs a break from today’s unending negative news and Gareth provides a breather from the stress of today’s world. He still brings difficult issues into his art - but is convinced that balance is the critical life component and as such, hopes his art will heal this disparate world through creative expressions, thoughtful moments and visual enjoyment or challenge.

Gareth photographs everything, big and small, that makes him stop, look, think, smile, or feel and then puts his unique take on it. Gareth’s images often offering something to everyone. His curiosity fuels exploration of the world via the abstract, urban, and imaginative images that arise. Gareth is touching people with his images and that is his inspiration.

4th Place – Overall - Lynette Orzlowski – “Erus my Unicorn”

Born in Melbourne, Australia. Lynette’s love of the creative has been a driving force and has such mastered many different mediums and holds a wealth of information on a great number of mediums and substrates. The wonder of colour and light has been a constant inspiration for her now for over three decades of painting.

She has established herself in the art community through solo exhibitions and group shows as a highly respected painter and she is often invited to demonstrate her craft Intrastate, Interstate and Internationally. She has taught painting professionally and privately for well over two decades and her commitment and passion for art is revealed in her involvement in several art societies and committees. Being a sort after art show judge for several select art societies and expos throughout the years.

Lynette’s disciplined approach in her study of the horse has been greatly emphasized by spending countless hours at events, shows and tracing through the sometimes-muddy paddocks. Inspired by what she sees, Lynette then goes back into the studio, transforming them into two – dimensional artworks, all the while putting great emphasis on the technical execution. Anyone who appreciates classic elegance cannot but be drawn in by what she creates.

Presently, Lynette is working for Canson Australia as an Account Manager for VIC, SA & TAS. Canson Australia is an International company, which is part of the FILA Group who include (Arches®, St. Cuthbert’s Mill, Daler Rowney, Lyra, Maimeri, Giotto, Princeton Brushes, Strathmore Paper, Lucas & Canson®). She has also written for the Australian Artist Magazine each month on behalf of Canson Australia, a new Paint Paper Play (#PPP) series of editorials and in her spare time, she works from her studio in Croydon creating ever-evolving pieces of equine & wildlife art.

Winning numerous awards, being part of many group exhibitions and conducting several solo exhibitions of her own throughout the years. Her work now hangs in private and corporate collections in Australia, USA, Hong Kong & the UK.

5th Place – Overall - Diana Fernández Vásquez – “Small Step”

Artist Biography: Diana Fernandez is a recognized Guatemalan sculptor with 290 national and international exhibitions and 20 solo shows. The International Sculpture Center said she revitalizes alabaster with a contemporary language. She received the National School of Arts Unique Sculptor Award and the Guatemala Biennial Honorable Mention also the Tribute to her Sculptural Work by FUNSILEC, 2016. Also awarded with the Goya Award at the Barcelona Biennial in Spain and the Caravaggio International Award Experience in Rome, Italy. Additionally her sculptures appeared in the Euroairport Mega Screen in Basel, Switzerland. Curator Vittorio Sgarbi recognized her with the Milan International Art Award. In 2018, she participated in ARTROOMS London successfully and in Art projects New York.

Artist Statement: To develop lines, shapes & objects cosmic visions in fiberglass, is to create new visions of outer space with inner material, that is why in fiberglass I developed Red Moons and many other possibilities and much more that sculpturally merge with color and shape in a different way of my other sculptures in alabaster and bronze, which also represent the universal shapes, emotions, ideas and nature objects.
