The Overall Winning Artists Category consists of the 10 Best Entries received from the 3 media categories of the Painting & Other Category, Photography & Digital Category and the 3 Dimensional Art Category.
The winning artists will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website for the month of January 2019 and thereafter, the artworks and links to the artist’s websites will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives.
The overall winning artists’ category of the "All Women" Art Exhibition will receive extensive worldwide publicity and promotion. In addition, the overall winning artists will also receive extensive worldwide publicity in the form of email marketing, 550+ press release announcements, event announcement posts and social media marketing.

1st Place - Patti Bradeis – “Young Apprentice”
Patti Bradeis is an award-winning artist born in Philadelphia, PA and currently living in New Jersey. She draws her photorealistic portraits with graphite, carbon and charcoal. Her techniques have evolved from studying the works of artists she admires and experimenting with various tools to achieve her desired effect. She uses photographs as her references. Quoting Renée Phillips, Director and Curator of Manhattan Arts International, “She not only achieves an incredible likeness to her subjects, she infuses her drawings with enormous love for humanity and her drawings evoke a powerful visceral effect on viewers. 2nd Place - Patricia Mariano – “Total Eclipse of the Sun”
Patricia has never had formal training but has taken a winding road that has slowly moved her and her art through the years. Quilting was the start of her road; I loved the precision needed when working with fabric. Then she began making fiber art utilizing her photos printed on fabric. The road then led to years of working with digital collage, which then led to actual collage. This isn’t the end of the road for Patricia, it’s a wonderful place to be but, surely, there are many more stops ahead.

3rd Place - Lou Ann Goodrich – “Exciting Find”
A lifelong resident of the US Pacific Northwest, Lou Ann Goodrich currently resides in Oregon where she maintains forested acreage preserved for wildlife. Hiking the natural forested paths provides the solitude, stimulus, and inspiration for her art.
An environmentalist and proponent for a balanced environment, she strongly supports maintaining diversity and sustainability for wildlife and the natural world. Recent retirement from a career in medicine provided opportunity to act on her passion for wildlife and wild lands. Photography soon became her voice in supporting the natural world and for fighting the increasing pressures to limit and destroy its wild inhabitants.
As a passionate nature and wildlife photographer, Lou Ann particularly strives to portray behavior and natural interactions of the species in her images. Still, wanting her images to further express her individual vision, she has pursued and added digital art to her skills which allows an additional creativity and artistic expression to her images.

4th Place - Denise Antaya – “Catching the Light”
Denise Antaya was born in Windsor, ON. She has been an artist for as long as she can remember. She had her first serious art show when she was 14 and hasn’t stopped painting since. After a 31 year career in Advertising, Denise decided it was time to focus on painting landscapes full time. She primarily works in Oils on linen or wood, but does the odd drawing in graphite or carbon pencil from time to time. She attended the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto for three years and attended various Plein Air workshops.
The everyday themes in Denise Antaya’s oil paintings combine her love of nature and her fascination with light and how it transforms an often-overlooked scene. With her fearless approach to composition Denise pushes realism to just the right balance of detail and poetry. Her subjects range from season to season but almost always represent the natural environment untouched by man. She has the ability to capture a moment and even transport one back to a quieter, simpler time.
She has many influences from the Hudson River School Painters to modern day masters such as Donald Jurney, Marc Hanson, and Joseph McGurl. Rural scenes that are wild, overgrown and serene are her subjects.
With over 40 exhibitions across Canada and the United States, her paintings have earned a dozen awards. In 2017, she earned her ARC (Art Renewal Center) Associate Living Master designation and is working towards her Living Master Designation. Two paintings each have been finalists in the ARC Salon in 2017 and 2018. She won best landscape in IGOR (International Guild of Realism) in 2017 and won Best in Show in Paint Ontario in 2016.

5th Place - Margaret Minardi – “Pecking Order”
Margaret Minardi lived much of her early years in Port of Spain Trinidad where without television or radio she was able to foster a vivid imagination. She graduated H.S. in 1978 From Cold Spring Harbor. In her H.S. years, she was able to attend The Huntington School Of Fine Arts, which gave her a heavy classical, atelier training. She attended S.U.N.Y. Purchase where she was influenced by the Abstract Expressionists, especially Willem de Kooning. She was a painting major with a minor in lithography. She graduated at the top of her conservatory and in 1982 was awarded the Faculty Award for Drawing and Painting. Minardi received a Master’s in Education from Dowling College. The remainder of her education has been predominantly self-taught.
Margaret Minardi does not have a traditional studio. She works on tables or on the ground wherever she is, sometimes lugging 5-foot canvases around during her workday. She is an obsessive artist, rarely looking up into the real world. Her series have focused on subjects such as infertility, adoption, identical twins, her upbringing in Trinidad and bi-polar disease. She has struggled through these issues on the substrate in front of her. Most of the time Minardi works in a stream of consciousness, not knowing what a series is about until it is most of the way through it.
As a 30-year high school art educator, Minardi has found profound gratification in passing on what she teaches herself to her students. They help to keep her stimulated and excited about art and on top of the latest technology and mediums. She is also a single mother of two of her own, Max and Vanessa. Most of the past 30 years have been spent promoting her students work. Over that time, a thousand works of her own art have accumulated in the closet.
In January of 2015, a close friend bullied her into taking her work out. Since then she has shown in over 60 exhibitions that include solo, group, local and National venues. Her work continues to win top awards, including Best in Show in many of them. Minardi has also been a panelist and guest speaker at places like the Heckscher Museum and Saint Joseph’s College. She has been a grant recipient, a juror and an Artist in Residence.

6th Place - Louise Williams – “Lost”
Louise Williams has been photographing people and places in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 40 years. She drew her inspiration from the Victorian portraits in her grandmother's albums that she pored over as a child. Originally, she was a film photographer, printing her images in her own darkroom. With the advent of the digital platform, she began taking pictures digitally and processing them in Photoshop. She found that Photoshop gave voice to her imagination.
Currently Williams considers herself a digital artist as well as a photographer. Her images contain characters, not necessarily human, situated in environments that seem to tell stories. Often her images are ambiguous, often ironic. They are hardly ever innocent. Her tools are a Nikon camera, the iPhone X, Photoshop, Snapseed and sundry apps.
Williams' photographs have received numerous awards including "Best in Show, Creative" two years in a row at the Marin County Fair, "Best in Competition" in the "Impressions" Show at Exhibitions Without Walls, the Jack Fulton “In Focus Award” in 2016 and 2018, and two Awards of Excellence from Exhibitions Without Walls. She has appeared in online exhibitions including "The Healing Power of Art 2016" at Manhattan Arts International and "Impressions" and "Strong and Powerful" at Exhibitions Without Walls. Her work has also been shown at the Marin Society of Artists Gallery, Falkirk Art Gallery, and the Frank Bette Art Center, all in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Williams’ work will appear in the “Women in Photography” exhibit of the Julia Margaret Cameron 2019 Awards in Barcelona, Spain. It is included in the 2016 International Juried Exhibition Catalog of the Center for Photographic Arts in Carmel. It was also cited in "The Art of Articulating in 60 Words or Less", an online article by Renee Phillips in "Professional Artist". She has published one book, SQUATTERS that is a collection of wild animals who find themselves in domestic environments, behaving like polite society. Currently Williams is searching for a publisher for THE SILVER LINING her new illustrated children’s book, which contains whimsical narrative images accompanied by original poems.
Williams lives with her husband on the edge of the San Francisco Bay in Point Richmond, California with numerous gulls, pelicans, osprey, and oystercatchers. She considers herself blessed.

7th Place - Maureen Ravnik – “When the Moon Fell”
Maureen Ravnik was born and raised in Minnesota. A brief visit to Colorado sold her on attending college there to pursue a career in sales & marketing. She stayed and never looked back. Working and traveling a lot in that discipline opened her eyes to the wonders of the American west and reawakened childhood tendencies to be creatively involved in art. After a lengthy career in sales & marketing, she retired and bought her first DSLR and began making images of the American west.
Today, Maureen’s time is spent outdoors taking in and capturing the scenery, wildlife, and exploring other methods for interpreting and sharing what she sees and experiences along the way. Maureen has accomplished many things with her photography including images placed in the Audubon International Top 250, local, national and international juried photography exhibitions, winning placements in monthly club competitions, state park calendars, images selected for use by the City of Littleton, and many images selected as editor picks on National Geographic and for publication. Her work has been the subject of several newspapers. She has been listed by LightSpaceTime.art as one of the top ten photographers to watch for in 2018. She has co-authored 2 books that document the history, beauty and environment of the second largest natural area in the country.

8th Place - Nora Pineda – “Red Goddess”
In her decades-spanning practice and drawing from her Mexican cultural heritage, Nora Pineda’s complex ceramics tie together modern abstraction and ancient mythology in a wholly unique way. Inspired by her Mexican heritage, Pineda’s pieces incorporate characters that symbolize the way of life of Mexicans throughout the ages. She brings them to life with deep, undulating lines and stylized faces that are extremely expressive. Everything, from the amount of lines used to the size of their bodies, carries significance in the story each piece tells. Pineda uses a variety of finishes – matte, textured, glossy – and a palette that can either be turned up or muted depending on the narrative. ?
An important feature of Pineda’s pieces is that they are created in the round, with the piece truly operating as a three-dimensional object. These are not straight sculptures, but forms inspired by the traditional use of ceramics: the vessel. Pineda’s shapes come directly from altered forms and manipulation of clay, and many of these forms are even functioning vessels. This is another example of how the artist brings ancient tradition together with new aesthetic ideas. ?
Pineda was born in Bakersfield, California and has been extremely active in the California art scene for many years. She has also won several prestigious awards for her work.

9th Place - Julie Powell – “Cleopatra”
Moving beyond the realm of simple photography, Julie Powell creates surreal, whimsical and fantastical works of Digital Art, often capturing emotion and moments in time along with symbolism to explore reality on a slightly different level.
Born in Melbourne and living there her whole life, surrounded by a vibrant and exciting art community. While not classically trained, she is mostly self-taught with a background in graphic art and design, Julie has transitioned from more traditional art forms to the digital art medium, often depicting images in her own unique painterly style. Being published both online and in Magazines, Julie is a regular contributor to various digital and Print Magazines, and an Artistic Coach and Mentor, Julie thrives on helping and encouraging other emerging digital artists and photographers and is widely active and respected throughout the digital artist community. Her workshops are small, hands on, and are always sold out.
“I wanted to work with women from history and folklore, strong women, who turned the pages of time for the men they encountered. One such was Cleopatra. A woman who died for her lover Marc Antony, rather than live alone under tyrannical rule. The other, Sirens, from Greek mythology, who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and singing voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. Forever forbidden true love. Both images are full of symbolism and colour; I wanted to elevate a simple photo to digital painting, with a rich colour palette and texture.”

10th Place - Shana Levenson – “Breathe Again”
Who I was as a child has shaped who I am as an artist today. Every painting and every idea encompasses nostalgia. All of my inspiration comes from those real world experiences and personal stories. Non-traditional portraits painted in traditional ways are my greatest passion. I paint people in my life that I'm trying to make a connection with, telling a story that's personal and individual to each piece. Each piece seeks to go beyond realism and capture the essence of the subject. With each painting, my goal is to create as much honesty about that individual, allowing me to capture the spirit of the person I’m painting. I completed my master's from the Academy of Art University in May 2015 and am currently teaching adult in my studio as well as workshops all over the world.
