Arturo Gonzalez was born in Chicago, IL and he still resides in the area today. It wasn’t until 2010 that Arturo discovered a passion for photography. He had not done much traveling up to that point and admired his friend’s travels on social media. They posted pictures of the places they had visited and it really caught his eye. Arturo decided it was time to visit other cities in the USA. He bought a Canon digital camera and his foray into photography began.

Arturo started to post his travel photos on social media and his friends provided positive feedback on them. He continued to travel and was constantly fascinated by the sights he would see in each new locale. The positive feedback from his friends helped fuel his growing love of photography. Arturo then upgraded his camera gear to a Nikon DSLR and he started to visit places he had only dreamed of including Hawaii, London, Rome, Paris, and Barcelona.

For Arturo, traveling and photography made the perfect combination. He explains, “You are exposed to many things you don’t see at home and photography allows you to capture those memories. In essence, you become a storyteller and photography becomes the medium you tell the story in. The internet allows the story to reach millions if you desire.”

Cityscapes and landscapes are Arturo’s favorite themes to capture in photography. Chicago is one of the best cities for people to capture beautiful cityscape photos. The national parks in the USA are second to none for landscape photography. Arturo had the pleasure of photographing Mauna Kea, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Bryce Canyon, Zion, the Petrified Forest, the Painted Desert, and Antelope Canyon last year. Each locale was unique and the visuals seen make one appreciate the beauty of this planet.

Photography is a hobby for Arturo and he’ll continue to learn as much as he can. The technology is always changing and he hopes to keep up with it. He also hopes to photograph many locales on his bucket list including Machu Pichu, the Northern Lights, Denali National Park, and Sydney, Australia. Arturo wouldn’t mind a generous benefactor to subsidize his travels [LOL], but he’ll get to these areas eventually.

An area that Arturo would like to delve into in the future is astrophotography. He has seen many beautiful things on the planet surface that it is only logical to also capture what is above in the stars. The photos being taken by astro-photographers today are simply stunning.
