Artist Statement:

In past years I was occupied with abstract painting and mixed media painting (digital graphics combining classic techniques and computer interventions) and applied arts such as painting and printing on fabric.

Last few years my main occupation is drawing. I achieve optimal expression using and mastering classical drawing techniques as graphite pencil, charcoal, ink, and pastel.

The source of my inspiration is a fascination with rhythms created by a variety of forms in nature.

To emphasize all that rhythms I usually place my motifs into carefully defined cut-out compositions in which they vary from image to pattern or offer close look to inner spaces.

I am also very interested in ornament as a way of visual expressing of ideas; in this point, I explore the relation between realistic and abstract concept and between image and pattern.

Beside composition there is a texture, which is also essential in my drawings, reflecting a character of each motif and adding a dimension of sensuality.

According to this, my drawings appear as a combination of classical realistic skill and modern approach in the sense of composition and visual appearance.

On the other level submitted works show us moments of a deep impression when we are able to see overwhelming beauty in ordinary things like grass, leaves, petals, tree bark, shades, and light spots.

This natural language is like a mirror of our own strong and fragile human values.

As an artist, I see my role in messaging these essential values in my own unique art language. Nive’s website: www.behance.net/nivespalmia91a
