1st Place – Overall - John H Diephouse - "Carriage for Hire”

1st-Place-OA-82-pd.-John-H-Diephouse-Carriage-for-Hire-bI am a primarily self-taught photographer who began exhibiting my images about fifteen years ago. I seek to share images with which I has a strong and instinctive personal connection. Images may be simply documentary, invoke a sense of time and place, or resonate as an abstract blend of color, shape or form. Others provoke an indefinable question that does not readily yield answers without further study and reflection.

My creative process follows an intuitive yet patterned path, searching for the combination of elements that produces an instinctive but undeniable connection. Most often, the images that provoke the strongest connection are those that do not produce an immediate reaction but provoke a response through repeated contact and consideration over time.

I exhibit widely and have received awards in local, regional, and national exhibitions. My photographs are also included in several corporate and private collections.

John can be reached via his email.

2nd Place – Overall - Jay Johansen - "Alluring II”

2nd-Place-OA-101-POM.-Jay-Johansen-Alluring-II-ypRaised by my artist-father in Oakland, California, portrait artist I began my journey into the art world at a very young age. Painting ballerinas, matadors, and Hawaiian dancers, I established an international collector base, ultimately leading to commissioned paintings of music icons, world dignitaries, as well as a long list of celebrity collectors.

Using broad strokes, as distinct from my previous style, I enjoy a freedom I never felt as a professional artist. Imbued with an energy of renewal, I am creating art with the verve I had as a child in my father's studio. I refer to my work as Pop Fusion Art.

3rd Place – Overall - Elise L Acosta - "No Escape”

3rd-Place-OA-185-POM.-Elise-L-Acosta-No-Escape-bIn my work, I like to provoke imagination and try to manipulate my viewer to see into my mind and my feelings. As an introvert with autism, I find that I best express myself through paint rather than traditional forms of communication. In my collections, I will take you on my journey through early motherhood to becoming an empty nester, my family's experience through the pandemic, and my life as an autistic person. A lot of my work conveys heavy emotions in a humorous way. Coming from a traditional Puerto Rican family, I never felt like I belonged. This feeling of isolation is palpable in many of my collections and I hope to relate my experiences to all, and have my voice be heard.

4th Place – Overall - Maureen Ravnik - "Coming Home”

4th-Place-OA-25-pd.-Maureen-Ravnik-Coming-Home-bARTIST BIOGRAPHY: Maureen Ravnik was born and raised in Minnesota. A brief visit to Colorado sold her on attending college there to pursue a career in sales & marketing. She stayed and never looked back. Working and traveling a lot in that discipline opened her eyes to the wonders of the American west and reawakened childhood tendencies to creatively document her discoveries. She began making images of the American west in hopes of preserving the history, the culture, and the dreams that shaped the west.

Maureen has accomplished many things with her photography including images placed in the Audubon International Top 250, local, national and international juried photography exhibitions, winning placements in monthly club competitions, state park calendars, images selected for use by the City of Littleton, and many images selected as editor picks on National Geographic and for publication. Her work has been the subject of several newspapers. She has co-authored 2 books that document the history, beauty and environment of the second largest natural area in the country. She was listed by

LightSpaceTime.art as one of the top ten photographers to watch for in 2018. She was also selected for a month-long solo exhibition by LightSpaceTime.art for April 2019.

At the end of 2019, Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery announced their “Year in Review” recap. This annual feature reviews and promotes the gallery’s 12 top winning artists for the 12 individual monthly art exhibitions. In 2019, the gallery received more than 9,703+ entries for their art competitions and Maureen’s art was selected for what the gallery considered to be one of the best 13 entries from their themed exhibitions. Maureen was selected again for a 2-week, solo showcase by LightSpaceTime.art for March, 2020 and January 2021.

Maureen has also served as a juror for the Tri-Lakes Center for the Arts in Colorado.

ARTIST STATEMENT: Maureen is an emerging talent whose methods and techniques are largely self-taught. Part of Maureen’s time is spent outdoors taking in and capturing scenery, wildlife, and exploring other methods for interpreting and sharing what she sees and experiences along the way. She is deeply inspired by the work of Ansel Adams and Art Wolfe. Part of Maureen’s work is also derived from her imagination. Her greatest satisfaction comes from taking the file from the camera and into the computer to develop composites. The results reflect her personal feelings and beliefs, events, culture, etc., that are best expressed through artistic interpretations.

5th Place – Overall - Jennifer Podor – “The Joker is all in”

5th-Place-OA-45-pd.-Jennifer-Podor-–-The-Joker-is-All-In-bMy name is Jennifer Podor and I have been doing photography for a very long time. I can remember using Kodak cameras with flashcubes and how I would save my money to buy film and flashcubes. And of course have the film developed and printed. As the years passed, I was finally able to get a “real” camera and finally had a darkroom in my basement.

My first SLR was a Minolta and I still have both bodies and lenses today. I also still have a darkroom, although someone else has other uses for it currently. When doing a final portfolio, my instructor asked me why it was not themed the same throughout. I replied that there are many things that are just asking to have their pictures taken, so I do. And to this day, I still take pictures of things that interest me. I love doing nature and landscape pictures, but people are also a lot of fun. I loved doing a couple who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

I have also entered the Lenexa Call for Artists for the last and have been so surprised to win “Best –in –Show” twice. Photoshop has been a big influence for me over the last several years and I have devoted much time and effort into learning this post editing process. Even the greats like Ansel Adams did post processing in their work. Lastly, I am now learning how to “Paint” in Photoshop. It has become very addictive for me.

6th Place – Overall - Cher Pruys - "Perspective”

6th-Place-OA-103-POM.-Cher-Pruys-Perspective-v"To take my inner visions with my hands and create a work of art for you the viewer .... That is the ultimate in self-expression."

Cher Pruys was born in Regina. Over the years she lived in many places including Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Fort Frances, settling into her present home in Devlin, on the banks of the Rainy River with her husband Mark, 4 dogs and 2 cats.

7th Place – Overall - Robyn Dansie - "Perseverance Hotel”

7th-Place-OA-128-POM.-Robyn-Dansie-Perseverance-Hotel-bRobyn Dansie has always had the desire to re-create newness from worn, tired, or familiar objects or symbols. She attributes this to a respect for her surroundings and an ever-present and long-held belief that nothing should go to waste or be discarded simply because it has exhausted its initial purpose for being. Everything can and should be re-purposed and in doing so, something wonderfully unique, beautiful or challenging often results.

Robyn’s initial training in design, at both the Brisbane Institute of Art and the Latrobe College of Art in Melbourne, both in Australia, has cemented this view of the world as she observes, analyses and mentally re-constructs the images of the world around her.

Coupled with her understanding and respect for colour and its impact on the viewer’s reaction to a work, Robyn is able, through the re-imaging of these items, to transport the viewer to other worlds, other societal forms, and even totally new and foreign forms of life, relationships or beliefs. That the viewer may find the result uncomfortable or challenging is a bonus as such challenges are the building blocks for change in our, sometimes, chaotic world.

The goal with her work is to promote the simple idea of uniqueness and wonder in the minds of the viewers of her work. The response of “Who would have thought of doing that?” as a reaction to one of her works is the supreme compliment. That it may challenge and cause the viewer to question and review a concept, a standard, a prevailing notion or belief is a bonus. Robyn takes the greatest pleasure in knowing her work has been enjoyed and remembered.

She has enjoyed considerable success in numerous solo and group exhibitions in her hometown Melbourne and this has been a driving force in her desire to relocate and test her skills and ideas on a wider audience in the UK and Europe. She is happy to reflect on this success knowing a variety of her works are being enjoyed in private collections in places as widely scattered as Norway, France, USA, New Zealand and of course her native Australia.

9th Place – Overall - Gareth Jones – “Dream Cape”

9th-Place-OA-101-pd.-Gareth-Jones-–-Dream-Cape-bPhotography/digital art are Gareth’s artistic releases. He has been able to bring his imagination, vision and inquisitive mind to visual life.

Gareth’s art explores bold abstracts or unique perspectives that are created from his original photographs or digital art. Gareth uses both monochromatic and colour perspectives believing that they evoke different emotions in viewers.

By looking to connect images to viewers – and in these uneasy times – Gareth wants to balance life. He presents moments of beauty or intrigue in balance with the need to draw attention to important issues.

Everyone needs a break from the unending negative news all around the world and Gareth attempts to give people a breather from the stress of today’s world. This is not to say he doesn't bring difficult issues into his art - but Gareth is convinced that balance is the critical issue. He hopes his art helps to heal this disparate world through creative expressions, thoughtful moments and visual enjoyment or challenge.

Gareth is photographing the world with all its wonders and creations, big and small, that simply make him stop and look, or think, or smile, or feel and then he puts his take on it. Gareth’s images are that gift - a moment to look, think, smile or feel whatever the image calls up in you. He lets his curiosity fuel the exploration of the world and from that abstract, nature, urban and imaginative images arise.
