The Overall Winning Artists Category consists of the 10 Best Entries received from the 3 media categories of the Painting & Other Category, Photography & Digital Category and the 3 Dimensional Art categories.
The winning artists will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website for the month of July 2020 and thereafter, the artworks and links to the artist’s websites will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives.
The overall winning artists’ category of the 2nd Annual "Primary Colors" Art Exhibition will receive extensive worldwide publicity and promotion. In addition, the overall winning artists will also receive extensive worldwide publicity in the form of email marketing, 550+ press release announcements, event announcement posts and social media marketing.

1st Place – Michelle Woitzel - “Primary Haze”
I enjoy combining my photography skills, education in graphics, and love of painting to create mixed-media digital works of art. Using all three disciplines enables me to diversify my style. My first love will always be abstracts. I create these with more of a feeling rather than starting with a vision of the end result. As I get older, I find myself leaning toward more of a modern style of work. The less complicated feel and composition appeals to my "less is more" aesthetic. I am an optimist and generally positive person. I focus on creating art that is colorful, has movement, light and uplifting. There's enough darkness in the world, I choose "HAPPY"!

2nd Place – Marek Krumpár - “Laundry on a Hanger”
Marek Krumpár is a Czech visual artist. He was born in Prague, where he lives and works. Although he is currently inclined to Impressionism, he has tried a number of different techniques and styles over the course of his creative career. He transitioned from classical brush painting to painting with a pallet knife on black canvas.
This is what Marek Krumpár says about his work: “When choosing a theme, light and shadows are most important to me. I draw inspiration from everything around me. I may be sitting by a window, looking out at a landscape, and may paint a different picture every hour as the light changes. Painting has taught me to stop every now and then to notice the moment and the ephemeral beauty that is all around us, which we often do not perceive at all in today's hectic world. It is these ephemeral moments that I try to capture in my paintings."

3rd Place – Lisa R. Tennant - “Lost Parking Opportunity”
Lisa Tennant is a painter working with themes of urban landscape, primary colors, figurative and occasionally abstraction expressionisms, which are each interwoven in graphic shapes and angular perspective, textured with weathered and distressed surfaces, colors, and patterns found in nature.
Earning a BFA in graphics and painting at Eastern Michigan University, she worked as a graphic designer before returning for her MFA in watercolor painting winning a purchase award for her graduate work and held a chair position in the Michigan Water Color Society. She was a founding member of the EMU watercolor organization in tandem with starting a residual student watercolor art exhibition, which continued for 19 years after finishing her MFA.
Tennant practiced her art and professional graphic design for a number of years, eventually teaching digital design at the college level. During this time, her work became more focused, highly realistic, and detailed with close attention to the illusion of space, materials, and surface texture to the point that the works are first mistaken for photographs. Upon closer inspection, the brush strokes and nature of the media become an abstraction.
Out of an interest for extreme perspective in urban landscape, a mid-century signage theme began to emerge. An interest in the disappearance of these pop culture structures, and their typography have led to a series to document the signage as they are with the addition of some subtle humor. A number of these signs no longer exist.
During Tennant’s career, she has won a number of awards for both her artwork and design including Best of Show in the Scarab Club 60th Watercolor Exhibition in Detroit and most recently First Place for Watermedia in the 35th Annual Texas & Neighbors Regional Exhibition. Her work has appeared in solo and group exhibitions in Michigan, Florida, Louisiana, and Texas.
In addition to her fine art and graphic design, Tennant is an accomplished author and illustrator, publishing a children’s picture book, Min Min and the Magic Garden, also produced as a cinematic short. She has melded all of her artistic interests over the years through the mediums she utilizes.

4th Place – Mark Kaufman - “Red Dancer”
Born on the prairie, he has called the mid-Atlantic home for decades. He began study in painting at the Corcoran School of Art while still in high school and continued at the prestigious Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts whose graduates include Mary Cassatt and Thomas Eakins. His work showed in the 100th Anniversary of the Academy at the American Museum of Art in Philadelphia.
He works with watercolor by layering washes and glazes on a softly sketched image that is then erased. It is quick compared with other mediums. It is serendipitous. His focus is on figures, explaining that, “Painting figures and faces is a challenge. We know the human face and body so well that there is no room for error. It takes a delicate balance between fluidity and precision. Figures are windows into the mind. The focus this work requires is an integral part of both controlling and expressing the bipolar, which I must manage every day. It is like deep breathing. It is an external structure and discipline.”
Mark’s other media include woodcuts, a traditional form of printing, graphite, and charcoal. He is now a signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, Philadelphia Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, the New Orleans Art Association and Delaware Watercolor Society. His worked has appeared in galleries across the country including the New Orleans National Show, Focus Point International Gallery, Gallery 311, Raleigh, N.C. Seascapes, 2018, Nude Nite in Orlando and Tampa, Florida, Au Natural in Portland Oregon and in the annual exhibitions of Works on paper at the Philadelphia, Baltimore, Pennsylvania and Houston Watercolor Societies.

5th Place – John Pingree - “Canoe”
While pursuing a career in Engineering, John found himself traveling widely. It was during these trips (to locations as varied as the Canadian Arctic and South Korea) that he first developed an interest in photography, honing his skills in the medium over many years.
John holds certificates in Applied Photography and Art Photography from Mohawk College and has studied at Loyalist College. He has studied visual design with Freeman Patterson, Andre Gallant and Tony Sweet.
His work has been shown in juried and non-juried shows at the Art Gallery of Burlington, Dundas Valley School of Art, McMaster Innovation Park, Joe Brant Hospital, Oakville City Hall, Oakville’s Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Center, Fieldcote Park & Museum, Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Toronto's Contact Photography Festival, among others.
John has been published in the Canadian Association for Photographic Art magazine and Photo News magazine. John is a member of the Latow Photographers Guild at the Art Gallery of Burlington and continues to push his creative boundaries at every opportunity.

6th Place – Carol Levin – “The Essential Brush”
A connection with photography began in high school with the very first photography class assignment; to construct a Box Camera and then afterwards to take a photograph with it. To be an artist was always my dream from the age of seven, but to become a cartoonist. Other paths led me to becoming a graphic designer. Worked in the Advertising field for over 25 years from Designer, Art Director, Creative Director and then my own Design Studio.
Through the process of photographing various individual images of either objects, things, people and places, the goal is to capture and recreate from these images and by fusing them together graphically, to present them in a totally new light. The inspiration and challenge always is to be constantly aware and looking at all things.
Carol’s artwork has been exhibited in galleries both on the West and East Coast as well as, at major known art trade shows. Have created commissioned artwork to several clients.

7th Place – Anita Gladstone - “Red Cushions”
Anita Gladstone is an award-winning pastel artist and former potter. Her love of the landscape and natural forms has been and continues to be an inspiration. She continually strives to capture in her work the beauty she sees in nature.
Anita earned a B.F.A from the University of Cincinnati where her major was painting. During her senior year in college, however, she became interested in working with clay and spent the next many years pursuing that interest. While working as a potter she participated in many craft shows and was actively involved in several co-op galleries and craft organizations.
In 2005, Anita returned to her roots and began painting again, this time with pastels. She finds the spontaneity of the medium, which is almost pure pigment, along with the wonderfully vibrant colors to be an exciting way to express her interest in the beauty of the landscape in particular. “Vincent Van Gogh is the artist I think of as the first to really catch my attention. I’m sure it was those vivid colors and the strong brush strokes full of life that spoke to me. That seems to be the journey I’m on with my art, to describe what I see and what interests me with that same sense of color and life.”
Anita is a signature member of the Pastel Society of New Jersey, a juried Associate Member of The Pastel Society of America, a Fellow of the American Artists Professional League, an Associate member of Allied Artists of America, and a member of Studio Montclair. She has exhibited her paintings in numerous juried and non-juried group shows.

Images have an undeniable power, and I want to harness that power and use it to better the conditions of living for those in the world who are not lucky enough to enjoy the luxuries many of us have been blessed with. By means of non-profit organizations and charities, all the profits from my photography will benefit those in need around our communities. A camera is really an excuse to delve deeper into a place than we otherwise would. Looking for a good shot forces us to seek out the unique features and scenic beauty of a location, to explore further, and to interact with our surroundings. 9th Place – Aleksandra Lis - “Alchemist”
I have graduated from the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Architecture. Currently I am a research scientist and an academic teacher at the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, with post-doctoral degree in field of architecture and urban planning.
Despite of the type of education I am not so interested in architecture as in The Man. As a scientist, I explore issue of relationship between The Man and environment and, aside from my research and didactic work; The Man is a subject of my painting studies in various portrait impressions.

10th Place – Haviva Zemach - “Lady Blue”
Haviva Zemach is an Israeli artist. In her home studio, Zemach enjoys creating 2 or 3 dimensional kiln-formed glass pieces. She also works in printmaking and papermaking.
Haviva Zemach became a full time artist 16 years ago, after retiring from her position, as a Director of Public and School libraries in the City of Herzliya, Israel. She has a BA in English literature, and Hebrew Literature and also an MA in Library Science from Jerusalem University. Zemach also earned an MA in art from Cal State University in Northridge, CA, specializing in Glass Design and Print making.
