The Overall Winning Artists Category consists of the 10 Best Entries received from the 3 media categories of the Painting & Other Category, the Photography & Digital Category and the 3D Art Category. 

The winning artists will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website for the month of October 2017 and thereafter, the artworks and links to the artist’s websites will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives.

The overall winning artists’ category of the "SeaScapes" Art Exhibition will receive extensive worldwide publicity by having their winning art presented on Artsy.net. The LST Artsy.net page will feature the artist’s art, an excerpt of their artist's statement and their website URL’s as part of the gallery’s overall prize package.

In addition, the winning artists will also receive extensive worldwide publicity in the form of email marketing, 1000+ press release announcements, event announcement posts and social media marketing. 

Winning artists will also have their art exhibition results posted and promoted on Artweek.com. Artweek produces 800,000-page impressions per month, 280,000 website visitors per month and has 30,000 newsletter subscribers.

1st Place - Cori Carroll - "Two Sails"

Cori Carroll has been photographing the Atlantic Ocean from her South Florida home for four years. She has been painting for one year, under the guidance of a soulful teacher. Her photographs and paintings interpret and capture the sea, sky, and land in Florida, USA. As Cori relates: "Most days the clouds roll in and transform endlessly while the pelicans and seagulls play with ease or travel with a purpose. From sunrise to sunset, the colors outside go from light yellow and gray to bright orange and blue to the whites of the clouds in the sky and whitecaps on the waves, ending in the soft or deep pinks of sunset." 

When photographing, she only has to look up and out. She sometimes wonders if the viewer will believe a picture real, as she notes that the Florida clouds are often unbelievable!

When painting, she translates these views to canvas or Yupo paper or board with acrylic paint, often using palette knives and sponge brushes, and sometimes adding touches of pastel or oil paint pen. For special touches, she uses fan brushes and a Japanese brush. Cori explains: "As everyone who has spent time at the beach knows, there are a variety of feelings that the seashore evokes. Sometimes it's peaceful, other times it's exciting or thrilling, as when a dark storm approaches." 

Cori is often surprised by the particular photographs and paintings selected as favorites by folks, and she loves to hear their explanations from the evoked memories and to hear details of the times of their lives. 2nd Place - Christina Brunton - "Wombarra Sunrise"

Fifteen years ago Christina learned how to paint and later started photography as a way to capture images as a reference for her oil paintings, but work commitments made it hard to find the time to paint. The idea was to take photos of beautiful scenes she saw whilst traveling and later paint them when time was available. Christina never went back to oil painting, as photography had taken over.

It wasn't until Christina learned to take photographs and made into works of art through digital artistry, that she was able to merge her passions of painting and photography.  Creating artwork is a way of life that sings to her.  Christina’s website is www.christinabrunton.com

3rd Place - Lynda Colley - "Recycled Glass and Resin with LEDs"

Lynda is a self-representing artist working predominantly in resin and/or acrylic to produce abstract art from her imagination, her emotions and moods or simply from following a particular process to see what ensues.

Lynda has relatively recently taught herself to draw; she has a love for animals and in particular wants to bring attention to wild/ endangered and illegally trafficked wild animals, the eyes are said to be the windows to the soul...... Lynda says "it is the eyes that call to me.....I love to try and capture the life in the eyes."

Lynda's art is an emotional release for her, it got her out of a bad place a number of years ago and continues to be her place to go for personal salvation.

Lynda is a 59-year-old Nana and has been married for 36 years, her long-suffering husband is one of her greatest supporters and often accompanies her to art festivals and art fairs. They have a new grandson who loves to simply stare at Lynda's paintings when he visits.

Lynda has a small garden studio (well a done up potting shed) where she can go to just 'be', it is 'her' space, she can work from her emotions her own energy without interruption if she so chooses.  Lynda happily takes commissions for both her drawings and her abstract art so please contact her for details.

4th Place - Claudia Araceli - "Between the Tides"

I am an artist with a passion for watercolor painting. I prefer to paint ‘plein air’ and do so all year round, which is not a problem if you are prepared accordingly. There is no doubt that watercolor is a challenging medium but I admit this is exactly what attracts me to it. I feel watercolor is at its best when you allow it some freedom to do what it wants to do naturally, by contrast, it’s at it’s very worst when forced to behave. I have found it is a matter of learning and understanding how to walk a fine line between both.

I started out as an artist in the late 1980’s but it all came crashing down around me when I was forced to stop due to chronic illness. Illness has bad timing as I was doing well and had been accepted and exhibited at the Royal Academy. I returned to painting a few years ago as a form of therapy, but only paint as my health permits.

I am often asked what inspires me, the simple answer is the energy, atmosphere, and light of somewhere or something! I can only say that I have no clue what will inspire me at any given moment, I don’t think about subject matter because I am not bothered about this. I simply drive around until whatever it catches my attention.

I feel extremely honored to have won 16 awards for my painting over the last 2 years, and am very chuffed to have been one of 100 artists worldwide to be chosen to appear in ‘Contemporary Artists of Excellence 2016’ coffee table book available from Amazon and all public Galleries and Museums.

5th Place - Don DePaola - "Harwich Sunset"

My artistic journey started as a musician but has transformed into my other passion, art. In 2007 I created digital art for my solo album, Grateful Soul. I wanted some of my videos on YouTube to have a better creative visual appearance. I completely fell in love with colors. Textures, nature, and so much more in that process.

My art is dreamlike, abstract and relaxing. Many of my pieces are inspired by fantasy, Mother Nature, sci-fi and scary movies. The art is meant to be interpreted in any way your mind perceives it.

6th Place - Glenis Gray - "Coast"

Her childhood was spent on the Isle of Man but Glenis now lives in another of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, in tropical Queensland, Australia. Drought and floods are common but dramatic topography and colors are evident everywhere. Memories and imagination, drawings from life, quotes from wordsmiths.

Whatever the source, her work is a response to the moment, a need to describe and the subsequent result is simply the ‘hard copy”.

Her process involves contradictions and much alteration ……..working and reworking, revealing and concealing. It is not pre-planned and begins with the first mark on canvas or paper or other ground. ……made with ink, or something as simple as a stick or trickle of paint which initiates a process that is often a replaying, or reinvention of a thought.

Sometimes it is difficult for her to explain the meaning of a piece as often it’s as if the work has taken her by surprise. Her art constantly challenges her…..the learning is never over. It is a quest that is fulfilling, seldom disappointing, and neither dull nor routine.

She currently lives and works in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland where she continues to develop her work through experimentation in, and exploration of, various forms of 2 and 3-dimensional media including drawing, printing, collage, and painting. Drawing has always been of primary importance hence the mark-making introduced into much of her mixed media work and painting.

Glenis was selected as a Finalist in Art Awards on 10 occasions in 2016, whilst participating in an additional 10 group exhibitions. To date this year she has been a Finalist in the following, with a further 10 group exhibitions. Her website is www.glenisgray.com

7th Place - Sheri Emerson - "Storm Approaching"

Sheri has been a photographer her entire life, from a child snapping pictures with her 110 camera, to her first SLR, and finally into the digital world. She also has been an artist her entire life, winning her first art competition at the grand old age of five. In the past few years, she has intensively studied both Photoshop and Lightroom to learn how to enhance her photography and turn it into digital art. In the past year, she has been published in “Living the Photo Artistic Life” eleven times, Readers Digest “Our Canada” magazine, “Photoshop Creative UK” magazine three times, “Conceptual Images” magazine, and “Fine Eye Magazine” for fine art photography three times.

She received the “Best in Show” award for “All Weather of the Seasons” and the “Judges Choice” award for “All Animals” in Contemporary Art Gallery Online competitions, placed second in the SINWP “Creatures Great and Small” competition, and has been recognized for her work in ShiftArt.com challenges as well as winning numerous Facebook “Photo of the Day” challenges.

She is also a two-time top ten overall winner in the Light, Space and Time competitions and has received several honorable mentions. Sheri splits her time between Arizona and Labrador, Canada, and is dedicating herself to pushing her photography and digital art even further. 8th Place - Thomas Draving - "Harbor Lights"

Thomas Draving is a watercolor artist, painting and selling watercolors in South Florida. His paintings are shown all over South Florida. He enjoys the beaches, the ocean, boating, wildlife, and nature.

Thomas was born in Pennsylvania. He studied mechanical design at Spring Garden College in Philadelphia. Thomas was a singer and songwriter in his 20's. While in his 30's he attended the Stone Harbor School of Art in New Jersey.

After moving to Florida in 1983 he joined the Gold Coast Watercolor Society and the Florida Watercolor Society where he continued to study as a watercolor artist. His artwork is shown in fine art galleries throughout South Florida.

His Florida paintings are watercolors full of color and design. He enjoys the beaches, seashore, boatyards, the local wildlife and art landscapes. The colors of the oceans, surrounding array of plants and flowers and the architecture of the Florida beaches have inspired his work as an artist. Most of his paintings are a result of his graphic design skills and vivid imagination. His watercolor designs vary in composition and are very colorful.

Thomas is a resident of Hollywood, Florida. He is a graduate of AEI - The Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute at Artserve. He has won numerous awards for his paintings including an honorable mention from Gold Coast Watercolor Society, 2nd place in the Hollywood Crossings pre-building Condo Contest and 1st place in the Artserve Great Florida Bank Florida Landscapes competition. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality from Nova Southeastern University and was an elected member of the Art Selection Committee for the City of Hollywood in Florida.  His website is www.thomasdraving.com

9th Place - Kathleen Greenwood - "The Fisherman's Plight"

Kathleen started her art journey in mixed media after attending a workshop titled "The Artist's Way." She is self-taught and attends local & out of state workshops to learn new techniques. Kathleen is currently enrolled in several of Sebastian Michael's online digital courses.

Kathleen's digital art represents her interpretation of conventional & non-conventional subjects & can reflect realism or fantasy. Her workflow & techniques are not necessarily traditional or highly structured in the same way for each art piece she creates; however, each piece starts with a base subject, involves manipulation of color, lighting, textures & special effects using many different kinds of software and ends with post-processing. Sometimes a creation involves lots of experimentation that can lead to decisions that can elicit a reaction that cannot be predicted.

Kathleen has exhibited in professional juried exhibits, a local art gallery & fine art shows. She has been published in the "Living the Photo (artistic) Life" magazine and in the online GSP online magazine in collaboration with Gabriel Olude, an international photographer.

Although Kathleen's major interest at this time is digital art, she continues to stay involved with traditional art and will be focusing on combining digital art & traditional art in some form. 10th Place - Ericka Wolf - "Blue"

Ericka Wolf’s paintings have been called atmospheric, ethereal and grounded in nature. Encompassing themes of the sky, water, and horizon, they evoke a sense of both vibrancy and calm and are often inspired by her own photographs of places she’s visited or lived; Cuba, Greece, Italy, East Harlem, New York and Washington State are favorites.

Currently, she is focusing on both oil and encaustic painting, an ancient art medium that involves the heating and layering of beeswax, tree resin, and pigment onto a birch substrate. She is drawn to the luminous, mercurial and honey-scented nature of the beeswax, as well as the physicality of fusing and scraping the layers of wax on large panels of birch. She is captivated by the seemingly incompatible union of a fiery blowtorch with the delicacy of wax.

An unconventional upbringing with young, bohemian parents included stints of living in a VW bus in Mexico, though much of her childhood was spent in solitude on a quiet lake in eastern Washington. This unique perspective gave her an appreciation for the escape, beauty, and pleasure found in travel and nature.

Before becoming a full-time artist, she waited tables in Seattle and Manhattan, used her degree in Social Science in product development at Starbucks and later as a talent recruiter. As a full-time artist, she has found, in her work, passion, solitude, and creativity, where previously there had been an unanswered question.

Inspired and influenced by multiple movements in modern art and artists including Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell, Mark Rothko, Betsy Eby, Gerhard Richter, Carl Titolo, Mark Rediske and Eric Cahan, her work has been featured on the cover of the UK magazine, Risk and on the cover of the book Flow Variations, by Andrew Gottlieb.
