The Overall Winning Artists Category consists of the 10 Best Entries received from the 3 media categories of the Painting & Other Category, Photography & Digital Category and the 3 Dimensional Art categories. 

The winning artists will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website for the month of November 2019 and thereafter, the artworks and links to the artist’s websites will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives.

The overall winning artists’ category of the 9th Annual "SeaScapes" Art Exhibition will receive extensive worldwide publicity and promotion.  In addition, the overall winning artists will also receive extensive worldwide publicity in the form of email marketing, 550+ press release announcements, event announcement posts and social media marketing. 

Winning artists will also have their art exhibition results posted and promoted on ArtJobs/ArtWeek. Artweek/Artjobs produces 800,000 page impressions per month, 280,000 website visitors per month and has 30,000 newsletter subscribers.

1st Place – Victor Mordasov - “Waves”

Victor Mordasov spent many years exploring different mediums and methods of painting. He discovered the joy of painting by following the techniques of the Old Masters in combination with an impressionism manner of painting.  He paints a wide range of subjects, including landscaping, still life, portraits, seascapes and marine venues. His work portrays the exterior of the subjects as well as their characters and personality. Victor is a Fellow Maxima Cum Laude of The American Artists Professional League (AAPL). His paintings have been juried into and won awards in numerous National and International shows.

2nd Place – Razvan Balotescu - “Turning into the Sun”

Born and raised in Romania, at 24 I made my big move to the United States to start my career as a family physician. As I began to take in my new environment, I realized that I needed to capture the beauty that surrounded me. I began to teach myself the art of photography through books and practice.

I love nature and I see beauty in all of God’s creations. The more I explored the outdoors, the more I wanted to capture. With a photo, you choose what and when to see something – you’re not forced to consider it because it’s passive, but it’s powerful. You can observe a photograph and it can change your mood.

I currently live and work as a family physician in Ponte Vedra, FL, my home since 2008. My local environment is the source of my inspiration.

3rd Place - Scott Walt - “Heaven’s Gate”

Born and raised on coast of southern Ca. Scott has a deep relationship with the ocean. Surfer diver, and overall waterman, he knows the ocean intimately. Combined with his years of oil and acrylic painting, Scott brings the two together with a high proficiency in capturing the intimate subtle nuances of the ocean’s beauty, power and grace from a perspective only a knowledgeable eye can produce.

4th Place – Mark Andreason - “The Markabo Swell”

Mark Andreason is based in California. Since 1986, he has been honing self-taught skills. Mark realized that he had reached a crossroad in life where he consciously decided to change his focus on what brings meaning to him. Mark was heavily influenced by the painters Julie Bell, Boris Vallejo, and artist Luis Royo. Using ink to develop Gothic style drawings that are themed in escape and fantasy, his work generates wonder and awe. Mark invites you to join him on his journey at baddkarMA, as he becomes more of what he has always been--a baddass artist!

According to Mark: “My transgressions have cost me more than 30 years of my life behind bars. Once upon a time, the thought of being released seemed overwhelmingly out of reach. No more. 5th Place – Catherine Boreham - “Fishing for Bait”

The Capricorn Coast with it’s beautiful beaches and friendly residents are what and who Catherine attributes as the reason for being drawn into the world of painting. Since 2004 Catherine began her obsession and inspiration to fulfill the potential of each blank canvas at her disposal.

For many years now Catherine has been using her brush to steward precious memories of places and people’s loved ones. What an honour it has been for her to bring to life on the canvas these important images which will be treasured forever. Catherine has received such uplifting messages of appreciation for the time and care taken to express and capture the mood of the subject, or depict a person’s individuality.

Catherine says, “I have found that my story becomes entwined in your stories throughout the process of painting and revealing the finished artwork. I consider this a privilege.”

Although seascapes are what most people recognize her work by, portraits are a real passion for Catherine also. This year she had the opportunity to paint a portrait of Jonathan Thurston for the JT Academy to represent the man himself. Her other recent achievements in regards to portraiture include finalist in the Percival Tucker Awards in Townsville in 2018, finalist in the Bayton Award 2019 and the Gladstone Rio Tinto Award 2018. Catherine joyfully received the People’s choice award in the Flying Arts, Queensland Regional Art awards for 2019 also.

Catherine is always experimenting and enjoying developing her style as an artist and works primarily in oils and acrylics. Her other love is for pencil sketches also. As a grateful Capricorn resident Catherine produces a yearly calendar from her coastal scenes and a portion of the profits is donated to a local community charity.

6th Place – Chuck Rutenberg - “2nd Beach, Olympic Nat'l Park”

I've been a lifelong photographer and several years ago, as I approached retirement, I became interested in Digital Art and the possibility of combining these two media. The result is the content that you will see throughout the site. I'm inspired every day by the artists around me as well as nature itself. I am continually trying to experiment and learn new techniques, bringing them to my art, and developing new series to share.

7th Place – Sheri Emerson - “Into the Light”

Sheri has been a photographer her entire life, from a child snapping pictures with her 110 camera, to her first SLR, and finally into the digital world. She also has been an artist her entire life, winning her first art competition at the grand old age of five. In the past few years, she has intensively studied both Photoshop and Lightroom to learn how to enhance her photography and turn it into digital art. She has been published in “Living the Photo Artistic Life” magazine, “Photoshop Creative UK” magazine, “Conceptual Images” magazine, “A5 Magazine”, “MagazineGSPDigital”, and “Fine Eye Magazine” for fine art photography. She was recently named a finalist in the Photographer’s Forum 38th Annual Spring Photography Competition and was one of 40 artists selected to participate in a year-long exhibition celebrating ACLU of Arizona’s 60th Anniversary. She has placed in the top ten in eight Light, Space and Time competitions, has received several “Best in Show” awards, placed second in the SINWP “Creatures Great and Small” competition and earned a Gold Award in their member competitions, has earned a Best in Show and won a Solo Artist Showcase on Fusion Art, and has been exhibited at galleries in Pennsylvania, Nevada, Arizona and Greece. Sheri splits her time between Arizona and Labrador, Canada, and is dedicating herself to pushing her photography and digital art even further. 8th Place – Laurie Snow Hein - “Symphony in Blue”

Counted among Florida's artists’ elite, Laurie Snow Hein is known beyond her home of Florida reaching audiences around the world. With pieces varying from tropical landscapes and botanicals to animals in action and fine portraits, her work appeals to art aficionados across the board. Her canvases burst into life with sparkling light and brilliant color forming breathtaking dramatic scenes.

Creating since the age of five, Laurie was destined to flourish in art society, winning multiple awards and illustrating a number of published books. She balances her time painting with conducting workshops, teaching classes and occasional commissioned portraits.

9th Place – Brian LaSaga - “Cape St. George”

Brian LaSaga was born in St.Teresa's, Newfoundland on November 1, 1955, and moved to St.George's Newfoundland in 1965. He has always been a very visual person and with no formal training, art is more instinctual, full of discovery and experimentation which has continued with him today. Being somewhat of a perfectionist, Brian has always remained faithful to his subjects, and his imagery. Although he has experimented with watercolors, gouache, egg tempera, and oils, the artist soon realized that acrylics suited his style and technique. Today he paints primarily with acrylics on masonite panel, and prefers acrylics because they dry faster, and this allows him to layer rather quickly. His work is greatly influenced by nature, and feels that he is just a student and instrument of nature. Brian's subjects often include rural settings, weathered textures, landscapes, seascapes, and sometimes he may incorporate figures or some form of wildlife into his work as an extension of nature. The artist prefers to paint familiar experiences and subjects indigenous to his area. An area that he feels is raw and sacred. The artist's main interest is in capturing the essence of his chosen subject.

"Nature is my muse and inspiration simply because of her endless subject matter and surprises. This collaboration offers me something I never even thought of. Although I prefer to paint nature themes, weathered objects and rural settings, I'm open to other things that may catch my eye. As an artist, I feel that I'm just a work in progress, and there is always something to learn. Exploring and collecting material for paintings is a great adventure for me, and always a thrill to wonder what's around the bend or beyond that ridge. I like to create a sense of place that is somewhere but nowhere in particular. I hope each and every viewer sees and takes something a little different from my work and has an experience rather than just be viewing a picture. My goal is not to paint life, but to paint life into my work and create an emotional connection that I hope will inspire my viewers."

10th Place – Alisa Sheinson - “The Lilly Light”

When Sheinson began studying design at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, she was immediately drawn to the design of signage and guidance systems. She has operated her own studio for nearly 30 years, working with designers from various fields such as interior design, graphic design, architecture, and signage. Since she began taking on interior design projects in public spaces approximately 14 years ago, the interior design of public and commercial spaces has become her primary field, both in Israel and abroad.

Among her major projects are interior and signage design in office buildings, in which she devotes special attention to the topic of light.

“I have always used light and lighting, and for twelve years I have been creating light sculptures in the spaces that I design, which often become the main component of the project. I told myself that if I could design them, I could also create them. Today it is accepted, but in the past, it was not done. For me, it is a pleasure to create new and different things. Sometimes they are even a bit too sophisticated. Sometimes it can take me a second to come up with an idea for something I want to do, and I end up spending half a year making it happen.”

Over the years, Sheinson has designed table series, sculptures in lightboxes, tile series, 3-D printed light fixtures, and light fixtures based on fabric and plastic bags. One upcoming, exciting project that Sheinson has begun working on recently is the graphic rebranding of all the signage and directing signs for the Eurovision festival in Tel Aviv, which will be held at the Tel Aviv Convention Center in May.

The Capsule Collection is made up of unique light. The seeing eyes and the beating heart are what open our imagination in the studio and bring memories, desires, and the senses together in a single physical creation. Each of our artworks shows a link to light as well as to water, swimming to the ocean floor, and to nature, with all its various forms and creatures. The series in the collection are varied and based on various design themes: clear and sharp geometric forms appear opposite a series of amorphous and dynamic silhouettes, which add an enveloping softness that is created by the light and the object at its center. A significant part of these works is the play of light and shadow that is created and the three-dimensional effect that accompanies each artwork. The objects in the series are the result of research that has been going on for more than six years. The light sculptures, which combine a functional dimension with a creative-artistic dimension, are used for lighting private and public spaces. Although the sculptures are inanimate, it seems that each and everyone comes to life, and the light emitted by each comes directly from the life that takes place with it and what it symbolizes.
