The Overall Winning Artists Category consists of the 10 Best Entries received from the 2 media categories of the Painting & Other Category (including 3 Dimensional) and Photography & Digital Category.
The winning artists will now be featured on the Light Space & Time website for the month of June 2020 and thereafter, the artworks and links to the artist’s websites will remain online in the Light Space & Time Archives.
The overall winning artists’ category of the 10th Annual "SeaScapes" Art Exhibition will receive extensive worldwide publicity and promotion. In addition, the overall winning artists will also receive extensive worldwide publicity in the form of email marketing, 550+ press release announcements, event announcement posts and social media marketing.
Winning artists will also have their art exhibition results posted and promoted on ArtJobs/ArtWeek. Artweek/Artjobs produces 800,000 page impressions per month, 280,000 website visitors per month and has 30,000 newsletter subscribers.

1st Place - Ronald Santini - “Morning Reflections”
For me photography is a form of personal expression that evokes a sense of joy, discussion, a lasting impression, or discovery for those who view my work. I started my photography journey during my time in the US Military. While stationed in Spain I purchased by first camera. My focused interest in photography started to blossom in the early 1980’s and took off with the introduction of digital photography.
My photography has won numerous awards from local photography contests to international juried events. I am a member of numerous photography organizations including the North American Nature Photographers Association (NANPA), and the Carolinas Nature Photographers Association (CNPA).

2nd Place - John Diephouse - “Before the Storm”
Mr. Diephouse is a primarily self-taught photographer who migrated to digital photography about fifteen years ago. This transition marked a qualitative shift in both his interest level and satisfaction with the end product, due to the advantages of digital over traditional film photography. The ability to take a large volume of images without the expense of film and the ease of making adjustments in the “digital darkroom” has encouraged John to experiment and expand his skills significantly. After retiring from a professional management career, Mr. Diephouse has taken advantage of his time in retirement to more fully explore the technical and creative sides of this media more fully.
At this point in his development, John seeks to share images with which he has a strong and instinctive personal connection. Images may be simply documentary, invoke a sense of time and place, or resonate as an abstract blend of color, shape or form. Others provoke an indefinable question that does not readily yield answers without further study and reflection.
His creative process follows an intuitive yet patterned path, from capturing a digital image through the process of interacting with and refining the image, searching for the combination of elements that produces an instinctive but undeniable connection. Most often the images that provoke the strongest connection are those that do not produce an immediate reaction but provoke a response through repeated contact and consideration over time.
Mr. Diephouse has exhibited widely in local and regional exhibitions, and have been published in Nature Photographer and Black & White Magazine. His photographs have won over 50 commendations for merit ranging from Honorable Mention to Best in Show. John’s photographs were also selected to hang in the Michigan Governor’s Mansion as part of a year-long exhibition highlighting the State of Michigan.

3rd Place - Lars Vester - “Transient Tide #1”
Lars Vester is a Danish born artist living in Brisbane, working predominantly in the medium of oils. Lars’ artistic career took off from a very early age. He started painting in oils from the age of 10, and by the age of 16, he had his first sell out solo exhibition in his hometown, Grenaa in Denmark.
Upon graduating from the Aarhus Art Academy, he completed his studies via an Apprenticeship of Art Direction, Graphic Design and Illustration at The Masters Group, Denmark. In 1991, Lars followed his dreams and migrated to Australia, where he joined the advertising industry as an Art Director, and subsequently Creative Director. He continued painting part time until 2012, when he decided to leave the advertising industry to pursue his passion for art full time.
Lars has had a number of successful exhibitions in both Europe and Australia, including various solo, group and Finalist's exhibitions. Some of his career highlights include winning the Artworld Landscape Prize (Australia), Best Oil at the Rotary Art Spectacular (Australia), 1st. Place in the Painting Category at the 9th Annual Light Space & Time Cityscapes Art Exhibition and 2nd. Place overall. Lars’s work is represented in several private and corporate collections around the globe.

4th Place - Bohai Xie - “Our Time”
Bohai Xie was born in 1983 in Leizhou, Guangdong. He graduated from South China Normal University and currently works in Huaqiao Middle School, Boluo County, Huizhou, Guangdong. He is an art teacher, watercolor enthusiast and Huizhou young painter.
Bohai has participated in and won several awards in both national and international art exhibitions.

5th Place - Laurie Snow Hein - “Over the Edge”
Laurie Snow Hein,contemporary, award winning Palm Beach County , Florida Artist, paints the tropical Florida subjects where she has lived for more than 70 years. Old world Florida landscapes, bold botanical art, inspiring oceans paintings, coastal paintings,tropical flowers, and eye catching wildlife art images come alive on the oil canvas she paints. 6th Place - Yizhou Zhang - “Monument to Sail”
Yizhou Zhang was born in Hangzhou. She studied oil painting at the Affiliated Middle School of China Academy of Fine Arts and then studied with Mr. Xu Mangyao and obtained a master's degree. She is now an associate professor and master's supervisor of the department of Fine Arts of Shanghai Normal University.
Over the years, her oil paintings, pastels, watercolors and other works have been accepted into won awards in various national and international exhibitions. In addition, Yizhou's selected paintings were published by the China Federation of Literary and Art Press.

7th Place - Sandy Brown - “Winds of Change”
I paint change; my painting is a fluid and organic process. I prefer not to work from a preconceived idea, photo or sketch, rather spontaneously put down color, line, and texture and let images appear from the painting process itself. I find embracing the uncertainty of it all exciting, and hence love watermedia, which is perfectly suited to me. For me, uncertainty is the cornerstone of what I do, and I love working in the present moment.
When I started to paint, I wanted to create a perfectly rendered recognizable image and pursued this train of thought for many years. I don’t remember exactly when, but one day I remember grabbing my largest brush and wiping out, without thought, a painting that I hated. I sat up and took notice after seeing the colors and shapes flow and merge on their own. I started working with this piece, pursuing emerging forms, or not, if I lost interest. I kept at it, and miraculously, painted something that resonated with me. I never looked back.
My work is reality-based, and draws from my direct observation of the world and nature. My emphasis is on painting relationships; this drives both what I paint and how I paint it. A painting, I feel, should present an image in such a way, that you see with new eyes—that you see in a new and different way. My hope is that, in some small way, my recent work has achieved this goal.

8th Place - Larry Klink - “Sunset over Beach”
I am a very analytical person. My creativity flows from my need to understand and explain. I made a career of distilling processes to their essence and reconstructing them to be more efficient and productive. My approach to photography is an extension of my life’s work. I distill a scene to identify its processes and actors. I try to understand how the processes, generally the forces of nature and the forces of humans, have and are interacting with the actors to create the scene. I focus on one or more of the actors and compose a scene that tells a story about them in an aesthetically pleasing way. To that end, I prefer to present seascapes in a more intimate way.
This collection of images shares some of the seascapes that I love, viewed from my left brained, analytical perspective. Each image tells a unique story about how its actors and processes have, are and sometimes even will impact each other. But I also want to entice the audience to linger and to find their own story. I want them to imagine themselves experiencing the sights, the sounds and the feeling as if they were there.

9th Place - Christina Brunton - “Row Boat”
Fifteen years ago I learnt how to paint and later I started photography as a way to capture images as a reference for my oil paintings, but work commitments made it hard to find the time to paint. The idea was to take photos of beautiful scenes I saw whilst travelling and later paint them once I had time. I never went back to my oil painting, as photography had taken over.
It wasn't until I discovered recently how photographs could be made into fine art that I was able to merge my passions of painting and photography. It has been a wonderful journey learning new skills and I never want to stop learning.
I am a photographer and digital artist living in Sydney, Australia. My art starts with a photo I have taken and then I enhance it digitally into fine art. Creating art for me is a meditation where I am so focused on the artistry that time stands still. Creating art is a way of life that sings to me and I hope it touches the viewer’s emotional strings, their heart and soul.

10th Place - John Pingree - “Edisto Island_0009”
John is a fine art photographer living in Waterdown Ontario. He specializes in abstraction of the world around; seeing in ordinary everyday things, places and events the underlying potential that others may not. The world is before us and it is glorious; we have but to slow down embrace it and learn to see what is before our eyes.
John holds certificates in Applied and Art Photography from Mohawk College. He has studied visual design with Freeman Patterson, Andre Gallant and Tony Sweet. John's work has been exhibited at various venues throughout Ontario including; Art Gallery of Burlington, Dundas Valley School of Art, McMaster Innovation Park, Beaux Arts Brampton, Mad & Noisy Gallery Creemore, Oakville City Hall, Oakville's Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Center, Fieldcote Park & Museum, Hamilton Public Library among others.
